Yah, rules suck, but every game has them and this one is no exception. So, here they are:
Age Limit The Stargate universe isn’t necessarily a safe or pleasant one, therefore a certain amount of language and violence are unavoidable. Not to mention, the majority of the characters are adults and as such, live “adult” lives. Players are free to explore these aspects and allude to them in their posts; however, because some people may take offense to reading such things, it’s requested that any “mature” relational game play take place outside the forums via email or IM at your own discretion.
Also, a certain level of maturity is expected of all players. Theoretically, we’re all adults here and therefore should act like it. With these factors in mind, you need to be at least 18 years of age in order to participate in this RPG and by registering for this game, you are attesting to that.
Godmoding/Powerplaying Absolutely not allowed! Don’t be an ass. Seriously. No one character is all powerful. Even the System Lords who think they’re gods have their weaknesses and your character should too. No one character is better than any other, even if you may think differently. In addition, you should never control or do anything to another’s character without that player's consent along with the approval of the Mods. In essence, you need to take a certain amount of responsibility for your character and your character alone, ensuring that their actions are met with consequences. If the Mods observe someone taking constant unrealistic liberties with their character, they may take matters into their own hands and oops, Timmy lost a testicle! The only people who have any power around here are the Mods.
Flaming Unless this is done in character due to a personality quirk (ie: McKay berating “Dr. Fumbles McStupid” … again – poor Zelenka ), flaming is not at all permissible. If you have a grievance with another player, try to work it out between yourselves privately -- do not take it out on the boards. If you can’t resolve the issue between yourselves, then please ask a Mod to help work something out. Bottom line is, we’re all adults, so act like it!
Harassment Do not stalk, harass, solicit or troll other members of this game for any reason. Such behavior will not be tolerated! This is not Pervs 'R' Us, your personal dating service nor your group therapy session. (Besides, you couldn't afford our rates anyway.) If any member reports/complains of such behavior from another, the offending party (if found guilty) will be banned from the game immediately!
Spamming Won’t have it. ‘Nuff said!
Lurking Sorry, no lurking. If you’re not going to contribute to the community, you have no business hanging around. Basically, if you don’t play, you don’t stay. And seriously, what military in the world (well at least on this planet), allows its members to just sit around and watch. Even Generals Hammond, O’Neill, and Landry did their parts.
However, all new members will be allowed a 5 day grace period in which they can look around and determine if this is the sort of game they want to be a part of. If you haven’t submitted either your application or reserved a character for play by the end of that time, you will be automatically removed from the gaming board.
Player Absences/Dropping Play In becoming a member of this RPG, you are making a commitment to it and its community. When one person becomes inactive, a thread can be significantly impacted and in some cases, come to a screeching halt, thus stalling the progression of the story line or killing it entirely. This is especially the case for any players involved in off-world missions. Therefore, please be mindful of this fact and make an effort to stay active -- posting at least twice per week per active character.
But with that being said, we all have lives and things can become hectic every so often, especially when those pesky replicators manage to work their way into the house and start, um, well, replicating problems. (They seem to excel at that.) None of us make any pretense of the fact that what happens in real life isn't more important than what happens in the game. However, if you know you’re going to be away for any length of time, please let us know by posting a message in the Hiatus thread or by contacting a Mod. This will allow us to make arrangements for your character(s) if you haven’t done so already and makes it easier for everyone overall.
If you become inactive and nothing is heard from you within a 2 week time frame, it’s going to be assumed that you’re no longer interested and have dropped play. At that point, you will be removed from the game, your canon characters put up for grabs and your original characters written out of existance. This also stands for someone who continuously drops play. Communication is tantamount if you want to keep your characters and stay in the game.
Please note: The Admin of this game has the right to change, alter, or add to these rules at any time. In the event such actions occur, current players will be notified.
